Tech Crew Opportunities

Sound

Sound is an important part of any live event! As a student, you could learn how to operate one of our sound boards, and control the theater's sound system during the show! You can also assist with microphones backstage during the show and even learn to design and record your own sound effects!

Lighting

MGMS has an advanced lighting console, that you, as a student, could assist in programming! You could also operate the light board during the show and even try your hand at lighting design. Some shows also require spotlights, which are run by student technical operators.

Wardrobe

The costume department is responsible for all clothes and accessories worn by actors as well as their hair, wigs, and makeup. This team will learn the foundations of sewing for theater so they may make alterations, add embellishments, and even build their own costume pieces. The hair and makeup team will learn about stage makeup and design their own makeup and hair plots to apply to the actors.

Set Building

The set team works with adult volunteers and carpenters to build sets for our shows! Set is not limited to the walls and platforms on a stage - students will also work together to source, create, or alter all furniture and decor on the set. Students will learn construction basics and scenic painting techniques.

Props

A property, or prop, is any item held by an actor. This could be anything from an umbrella, to money, to a thanksgiving feast. The props team is in charge of creating or sourcing all props for any given performance.

Front of House

The Front of House team manages all aspects of a show that an audience member may interact with. From advertising the show, selling tickets and concessions, decorating the lobby, ushering during the performances, and even designing merchandise, the Front of House team ensures that an audience is present to cheer on our show and that everyone who attends has a wonderful experience!
