Flexible Seating

Welcome to Our Classroom!

Our class uses Flexible Seating. Instead of traditional desks, you will see a wide variety of seating options, including standing tables, tables, couches, carpet, and stability stools and more.

Students will be able to choose their own seat daily, and work in a location that suits them. Some student supplies traditionally stored in desks will be kept in book boxes on our shelves for easy access. Students can grab their book box and take it to the spot they have chosen. Many supplies, such as markers, glue, etc., will be collected for community use. These will be stored in the classroom for all students to use as needed.

I am very excited about using flexible seating in our classroom this year. I know it might seem a little different from what you’re used to in a traditional classroom, but I believe it will help each student in our class be the best learner they can be. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email or Dojo message me.

Why Flexible Seating?

Research has shown that flexible seating:

- physical activity enhances cognitive activity

- helps students with ADHD, Autism, and other special needs.

- Physical activity breaks help increase on-task behavior

- encourages students to take responsibility for their learning.
