Coach Schlager participated in cross country, nordic skiing and track & field beginning in 9th grade at Lakeville South HS. He continued running cross country, indoor and outdoor track for Northwester College, St. Paul. After coaching and teaching at Burnsville HS for 6 years, Schlager joined the Eastview community in 2021 and now spends his afternoons coaching XC, Nordic and Track with the lightning!
Schlager coaches because... he believes that hard work, a positive + growth mindset and FUN are critical components to a healthy life, and he is passionate about sharing those experiences the awesome athletes who join this team.
Schlager measures success in three ways:
1) season long progress (improvements, Personal Bests, team performances at Sections and State),
2) how many athletes continue to run after high school (recreationally or collegiately), and
3) did we have fun?
Being healthy, mentally courageous and learning to race are some additional outcomes Schlager believes in.
