The Band for All (BFA) program is a district-wide instrument donation program that provides instruments and supplies to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in band due to financial barriers.

Band for All has helped approximately 3,300 students participate in band in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district. BFA began in 2007 serving only Cedar Park Elementary. BFA then expanded in 2011 to reach all elementary, middle, and high schools in the district. During the 2025-2026 school year, over 1,200 5th-12th grade students will play a Band for All instrument.

BFA is able to provide band experiences to students in need because of the generous support of the District 196 community. The vast majority of our instruments have been donated by community members. To date, we have had over 1,500 instruments donated to the Band for All program.

Band for All needs over $16,000 annually for instrument repairs. In addition to funding repairs and maintence of instruments, we also supply students with a starter kit of supplies needed to play their instrument such as: reeds, grease, oil, swabs, etc. Yearly projected costs for these supplies are over $5,000.

We are in need of band and orchestra instruments, supplies, music stands, and funding (for repairs and supplies) to provide a meaningful band experience for our next group of beginners. Instruments we accept: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet,
Trombone, Percussion (Bells, Xylophone, Snare Kits), and 1/2 or 3/4 size String Instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass).

Make sure to include your name and address in the instrument case if you wish to receive a donation letter for your taxes. Instruments can be given to the front office during school business hours.
