Goal: Students discover the love of reading by choosing books they want to read.
The role of AR: We will take STAR reading tests to find a baseline for each student's reading level. AR goals will be given, but are a minimal goal that should not pressure students into reading too quickly. The goal is for students to enjoy reading, not to feel stressed out by reading goals. Every student has a different reading goal because every students reads differently. A slow reader doesn't mean a reader is good or bad. Students need to read books that excite them and build their confidence as readers. Giving every student the same reading goal makes no sense when we look at students as individuals.
