Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest. In 2024, more than 15,000 students from 54 high schools across Massachusetts participated in Poetry Out Loud.

AMHS has seen five students advance to the state finals: Chloe Dantus was the 2023 AMHS champion and a state finalist. In 2020, Jessie Carson competed in the state finals, advancing beyond more than 23,000 students who participated across the state. In 2014, Darlande Joseney, our two-time school champion, placed third in the state. She came in behind the 2013 and 2012 state champions. Allison Davis represented our school in 2011, beating out more than 18,700 students from Massachusetts to take a place in the top six.
