Coach - A minimum of two coaches for each team. The coaches help the teams progress, helping them with teamwork skills, helping them find resources, teaching the robot building and programming skills, serving snacks, keeping the team on task. The Coaches are encouraged to enlist other adults to help with these activities. It is up to the kids to solve the challenge, think up project solutions, and do the programming and building the robot.
Team Parents and Guardians - Ask the students about what they are doing on the team, stay interested, sometimes help create costumes, provide snacks and encourage team members.
Team Mentor - Help the students learn about designing, building and programming an FLL Robot.
US Robotics Team Sponsor - Provide all robots and materials, register teams, complete team state and national registration and fees, provide guidance to coaches and mentor the teams.
Registration, including check-in, judging check-in and Judging Corridor - Greet team upon arrival, give team all team information and team bag. Confirm team is in correct location, confirm room number, send team up the stairs to judging, help the team remain quiet in the judging area. *Swapping Permitted Position*
Pit Area Team Ambassador - Greet teams when they arrive and direct them to their team Pit Area. Tell teams how to get to the Busse Gym for Robot Runs or to the Judging Check-in. Ask/direct teams to clean their area when they leave. Assist with cleaning the area after teams leave. Assist with cleaning the area at the end of the day. *Swapping Permitted Position*
Co-Scorekeeper - Make sure all scores are in before starting next robot run, let Head Referee know that all scores are in, monitor scores for any unusual situations. *Swapping Permitted Position*
Co-Timekeeper - Confirm all teams are ready with Head Ref, Start 2:35 timer, sound buzzer. *Swapping Permitted Position*
Table Referee - Referees observe matches, identify and "call" rule infractions, and participate in deliberations with other referees and the Head Referee regarding contested calls. They work under the direction of the Head Referee, and play a critical role in ensuring a positive, fair environment with a smooth flow of match play, and maintaining the pace of the event. This role is physically active and positioned on the perimeter of the playing field. Please complete the referee training and review the Challenge Documents for the Robot Game. Referee Assistant/Table Resetter - Set table mission models after a robot run. Greet teams when they arrive. Ask teams if they have any equipment that is no permitted in the competition areas. No mission models (except M01 Innovation Project Model), no computers, Bluetooth off, only one robot brain, only 4 motors and similar items. Tell them where to stand, ask Ref if the team can set up for inspection, ask Ref if team can set up for a robot run. Stop team from touching the table after the end of the 2:30 so that scoring can be done. Generally not a Swapping Permitted Position but ask your area Coordinator. Project, Robot and Core Values Judge - The team will give a five minute Innovative Project presentation and you can ask questions. The team will then give a five minute Robot Design presentation and you can ask questions. You will work with other Judges in the tournament using FIRST LEGO League’s process to evaluate the team's Core Values and determine awards. All you need is a well rounded life experience and desire to help kids do their best and discuss FLL. Not a Swapping Permitted Position.
Judge Assistant - Assist judges with understanding the Rubrics, how to score, questions about any judging issue. Help the judges complete the scoring within the time limits. Not a Swapping Permitted Position.
