Unfold Your Dreams: Orientation Week 2024

By Aliyah Jewel Sara

Orientation Week (O-Week) is a pivotal event in the academic calendar, marking the official commencement of the new school year for both returning and incoming students. Held from August 12 to 16, 2024, this week-long celebration was filled with a variety of activities aimed at familiarizing students with the unique culture and rules of APEC Bacoor School, while also setting the tone for the academic year ahead.

One of the highlights of O-Week was the series of activities hosted by the Learning Facilitator (LF), which introduced students to the core values and expectations of the school community. These activities were designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate school policies and procedures, ensuring that they remain compliant with academic standards. Among the key topics discussed were the grading system and the importance of maintaining academic performance. Students were informed of the Grade Compliance requirement, which mandates that they meet specific grade thresholds throughout the school year, with grades from quarters 1 through 4 being evaluated for both Junior and Senior High School students. Furthermore, the JHS-SHS Completion Process was introduced, emphasizing the need for students to achieve a minimum grade of 75 in any subject.

The Orientation Week also provided a comprehensive overview of the Digital Learning Commons, which includes the APEC Online Library and Library eResources, essential tools for academic success. However, one of the most significant elements introduced during the week was the Student Honor Code: “I WILL ACT HONESTLY, WITH INTEGRITY AND KINDNESS, AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.” This code was recited during the Monday Flag Ceremony and at the beginning of the Friday Flag Retreat, instilling a sense of responsibility and ethical conduct in all students.
