Student Support Services
Student Support Services
The mission of our school is to embrace the pursuit of excellence both, inside and outside of the classroom. We encourage critical thinking and emphasize the learning process. All children have the capability to learn and it’s the Student Support Services Department’s role to support the students so that they all can be successful in their education. The Student Support Services department includes specialized academic and behavioral instruction and support, one on one mentoring, individual and group counseling and socialization groups, and English Language Learners (ELL).
Student Support Services equips and empowers our students by offering supports and services that will provide each child with the capacity to maximize their potential for success in and out of the classroom. Those services are provided through our school counseling programs, our peer mentoring, school volunteers, community partnerships, and Special Education Services.
Social Emotional Team-The Academy of Dover knows that social-emotional skills help improve academics, reduce negative social behaviors like bullying, and create positive classroom climates. The services offered by the Social Emotional Team include individual counseling sessions, group counseling sessions, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and lessons through Harmony, emotional support, and behavioral support.

Community Outreach-The Community Outreach program provides supports for different academic and social emotional learning through mentoring programs and volunteers. Building upon the strengths of our students, the program has partnered with a community agency to provide training to our students so that they could start a peer to peer mentoring (Character Climb). Community Outreach also works with local school and agencies to provide volunteering opportunities within our school. If you would like more information about the Community Outreach program, please reach out:

The Academy has developed a curriculum designed to teach our Multilingual Learners (MLL). The curriculum is designed to provide opportunities in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and vocabulary. Students that are part of the program are those students who have been identified through their enrollment information where English is not the primary language spoken in the home.
