Pathway programs save qualified students significant time and costs when progressing from undergraduate to graduate studies. Students in Early Decider or Fast Track pathways are able to take graduate courses that will apply toward both the student’s bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree. Depending on the program, these credits typically can satisfy up to a term’s worth of graduate degree requirements.
On this page, you can find the basic guidelines and form necessary to apply to a pathway. On the Current Pathways page, you can find additional details specific to each program. We encourage students to meet with their academic advisor to assist them in determining whether or not a pathway into an Antioch graduate program would be a good option. Academic advisors can help students evaluate their suitability and eligibility for a pathway. (Note that students on academic probation are not eligible for a pathway program.)
In addition to working collaboratively with their Academic Advisor, students must gain approval from an Undergraduate Studies Chair to become a pathway candidate, prior to applying for the graduate program. The general process for pathways is as follows:
Enrolled Undergraduate Student meets with their Undergraduate Advisor to discuss pathway options.
Student & Advisor work together to fill out the Pathway Intent Form. This form lists the undergraduate coursework the student still has to complete, the specific graduate pathway coursework (as determined by the Master's program) and desired timeline for when they want to start the Master's program.
The Undergraduate Chair reviews and, if approved, signs and sends the form to the appropriate graduate program representative for review and signature.
If approved by the graduate program, the Master's program representative signs and emails the form to Admissions, with cc's sent to the student, the student's undergraduate advisor, the relevant graduate program chair and designated staff (if any) in the graduate program.
Once received by the Admissions Office, if the student hasn't already applied, they will be contacted and advised of the application process. The Pathway Form will be added to the student's admissions file along with required transcripts, essays, and recommendations for faculty review. This serves as an indication of a student's intent to apply as a pathway student.
A list of all pathway applicants is forwarded by Admissions to the Registrar and the appropriate Graduate Program Office(s) prior to the application deadline.
If the student is accepted for admissions into the graduate program, that admission will be provisional until the student completes the remaining requirements for the undergraduate degree. The Undergraduate Advisor will maintain access to the student's records until the Master's pathway courses have been completed and conferral of the undergraduate degree has been confirmed. The undergraduate program will send confirmation to the relevant graduate program that the undergraduate degree has been conferred.
Note: Any student who does not successfully complete their graduate-level courses during the pathway must return to the undergraduate program to complete the BA degree. After degree conferral, the student could reapply to the graduate program following the regular admissions process.

Each graduate pathway has elements unique to that program. For some of the pathways, students must take specific courses during their pathway term. For some of the pathways, there are many potential courses students could take. Some programs require a check-in with the department chair before a pathway intent form is approved. Note that some programs have a checklist for undergraduate students to follow in preparation for the pathway. Please refer to the Current Pathways page or check with the graduate program to confirm the details required for pathway students.
