Collaborate to Develop/Enhance a Syllabus/Course
Beginning in Spring of 2024, we began to facilitate peer faculty small groups (of 3–4 faculty each) to work together as a group to develop/enhance their syllabi/courses.
We are hoping to hold facilitated open group meeting sessions as well.
If you're interested in signing up to be part of one of these groups, please fill out this short Google Form.
How often will these friendly faculty syllabus groups meet?
We will meet every other month, depending on interest.
What to expect when you fill out the google form?
Someone from our group will reach out to confirm your interest and discuss scheduling possibilities.
What should you bring or prepare for the friendly groups?
Bring an open mind - and a syllabus if you have one or an idea for a syllabus.
What if you don’t have your syllabus for next term ready and/or you are not teaching right now but still want to participate?
Come and participate in our community. Learn from and with others.
You can also bring a syllabus that you used during past terms.
What do we mean by friendly?
The goal is for all of us to learn from each other. This is not a peer-review process that will lead to judgment but rather a space for conversation and ideas.
What if I’m not free at the times that are available? Are there other ways to participate?
If you are not free at those times, let us know what times work best for you and we'll try to schedule a group that works for your availability. If we can't get a group together, you're always welcome to meet with one of more members of the Inclusive Learning group!
What if you’re working on a proposal for a new class you’d like to offer in the future?
That would be perfect. The earlier in the design process, the better.
Who’s welcome in these groups?
Any faculty member is welcome, including our adjunct and affiliate faculty members, as well as Antioch staff and students who teach for other institutions.
Is this just about syllabi, or can I bring pedagogical questions about inclusive learning?
The syllabus for a class cannot be separated from the pedagogy of the class, so each should inform the other.
