Vision: At the heart of our division lies a profound commitment to nurturing knowledge, developing clinical skills, fostering growth, and empowering our students as social justice advocates. Every endeavor within our counseling division resonates outward, shaping the educational experience and enriching the lives of our students (and ultimately, the clients they will serve). In our pursuit of excellence, inclusivity is not merely a goal but a guiding principle. We believe that true excellence can only be achieved when every individual is empowered to contribute their unique talents and perspectives. Through intentional programming, culturally responsive teaching practices, and ongoing dialogue, we strive to create an environment where diversity is not only embraced but celebrated as a source of strength and resilience. Like concentric circles expanding outward, every action we take sends forth waves of positive change, shaping the educational landscape and empowering students to become agents of social transformation. Together, we stand at the forefront of a movement for inclusive excellence, guided by our shared values and unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Counseling Division serves over 800 students throughout the country and internationally across the programs listed in the diagram above. To best support these programs, in January of 2024, a Divisional Leadership Council was brought together to create a student-centered leadership structure for the division and to support divisional transitions and efforts.
The Leadership Council's report can be found here, as well as summarized in the presentation to the left.
Following that report and presentation, a follow-up implementation report was sent in September of 2024. This document outlines a vision for the structure of theCounseling Division to transition into a synergetic offering of counselor education programs that center student experience and principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI). This report outlines the progress made in the implementation of this strategic plan in its first 6 months, covering the completion of Phase 1 (development of the structure) and Phase 2 (filling leadership positions, developing councils, aligning processes). This report provides an overview of the achievements and challenges faced during Phases 1 and 2 of the implementation process.
The full implementation report can be found here.
