I am in the National Guard and four years ago I was sent to DC to perform security for the inauguration. This experience deeply impacted me after the previous year and I wanted to express what I was seeing and hearing int he country. I recently re-recorded the song because I feel like it still hits today. The song itself is me begging for the country to recognize its original sin of racism and come together to build a more perfect union (instead of pulling further apart and deepening the factions of our body politic). If people come together and see each other as one people, then that's where (I feel) like progress can happen and change can take place for the better. Who knows?
