This site provides students with the ability to explore careers by viewing short videos created by employees in the field. This website will “connect” career searches with local employers who offer careers related to the search. (Earn While U Learn opportunities).
According to Career Snapshots, research tells us that "most college-educated Americans “hate or dislike their job” (50-70%) and most “regret” their college decisions about what degrees, certificates and/or field of study (51%) they chose." Many high school and college students feel too uninformed and lack experience in a certain workforce context to making a choice about what educational path to choose and what career to focus on.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook
The Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), maintained by the US. Bureau of Labor Statistics, is a career resource offering information on the hundreds of occupations that provide the majority of jobs in the United States. Each occupational profile describes the typical duties performed by the occupation, the work environment of that occupation, the typical education and training needed to enter the occupation, the median pay for workers in the occupation, and the job outlook over the coming decade for that occupation. My Next Move is an interactive tool for job seekers and students to learn more about their career options. My Next Move has tasks, skills, salary information, and more for over 900 different careers. Users can find careers through keyword search; by browsing industries that employ different types of workers; or through the O*NET Interest Profiler, a tool that can help you find out what your interests are and how they relate to the world of work. Star Jobs is a new and simplified way to help you identify promising occupations. Star ratings are assigned based on wages, projected growth rate, and projected job openings, and each occupation has a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Occupations with 5 stars are considered to have better career prospects than occupations with fewer stars.
