About Me

Although I look old and wizened, I only a started teaching in 2016! After over twenty years in the military, my wife informed me that "retirement" did not mean what I thought. I had to get a job. My two Community College of the Air Force degrees did not transfer to any civilian practice, so I had to make a plan quickly. I've always loved reading and seeing how words work together to make meaningful thoughts. I hit the books, used my Post 911 GI Bill and went to McMurry University for an English grades 7-12 degree.

I believe books can take you places without having to go anywhere. On many of my travels to places I did not want to go, a good book took me someplace better. I wish I could get my students to experience this!

Writing can cleanse your soul, if you learn to write freely. There doesn't have to be a "perfect paper" to get a great grade - sometimes the writing, no matter the grammar and punctuation, can still be a great piece!

I must say, my first year in Anson was a new experience for me. I met wonderful kiddos that wanted to do the best they could. That's more than a teacher can ask for - it's not just the product, it's the effort put into creating the product! I watched kids grow into young men and women over the 2018-2019 school year, and I am SO excited to think of their futures. The class of 2023 will always be deep in my heart!
