My final piece changed so much from my original idea. My original idea was to have a box full of mirrors that you looked into, but eventually I settled on the bookshelves of my mind. Erudition simbolis the inner workings of my mind, that's why I chose Erudition as the name of my piece because it means to have a collection of knowledge. My piece is a small, brightly lit room that holds two bookshelves and some small potted plants. To create the bookshelves I took apart a ring box to create the base, I used a square dowel to make the shelves and clay to make the books. The rug is made of fabric and the plants are made of moss and the pots are made of clay. All in all I'm happy with how my final diorama turned out!

Alebrije
Alebrije only began to appear in the 1940s. Originating in Mexico City, the first alebrijes, along with the invention of the term, were created by renowned indigenous Mexican artist Pedro Linares (1906-1992).
The ancients believed the World to be composed of 4 basic elements – Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. These were considered the critical energy forces that sustained life.
An alebrije is bound to protect you and scare away evil spirits.
For the last part of the trimester our class made sculptures.
Title: Bookworm
Medium: Glazed Ceramics
Name: Porter Booton
From the start I knew that I wanted to make a book monster, (Kinda like the one from Harry Potter) but I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to make it. I eventually decided on making a bookworm living inside of a book. Once I constructed the basic book shape I just started throwing on random stuff until it looked right. Once fired, I had to glaze it. The glazing was the most challenging part. One because I had no clue what colors to use also I suck at painting/glazing. After two and a half days of glazing I had to start “tattooing” my piece. I went for a spotted pattern over everything. Overall I'm happy how it turned out!

On the right is my finished product .
Fun fact the left wing on my dude is broken!!
One of the coolest things that you can do is take a clump of plain boring clay and make a masterpeice!
im not saying that my peice is a masterpeice because its not 😁
