Schoology sends you email notifications for Social, Academic, Group, and School activity that occurs in your account. These notifications pertain to the school, courses, and groups in which you are enrolled (not courses or groups in which your child is enrolled).
To access your personal account notifications, click the arrow in the upper right corner of Schoology, and select Settings. Then click the Notifications tab.
Understanding Your Notifications
Setting up your notifications as a parent allows you to customize the notifications for the courses/groups that YOU are a member of as a parent.
Parents do NOT have to be members of any parent groups or courses (that is OK!). Your children ARE in groups/courses, which you can view.
Notifications from your child’s courses will NOT automatically go to your parent account as a badge/push notification or email.
NOTE: Schoology does this by intentional design. Why? Imagine a parent with 4 kids in Anna ISD receiving notifications from all of their children’s teachers to one parent account (could potentially have 28 teachers sending course updates every day!). That would be CRAZY!
If you choose to download the Schoology mobile app, you can also customize the badge/push notifications in your account settings.
IMPORTANT
You can ONLY see your child’s courses (and the materials and updates within) when you:
Log into YOUR parent account
Click on the child you want to “View As”
Notifications from your child’s courses will NOT automatically go to your parent account as a push notification or email. You must choose which child you want to “View As” to see anything associated with your child's courses (materials, updates, etc). If you would rather set up for a daily or weekly email to come to you with a summary of the day (or week) of your child’s Schoology account, you can set up aParent Email Digest.
Want updates sent directly to you via email?
(Versus logging in to your parent account to “View As” your child to check… )
Set up a Parent Email Digest!
This allows parents to set up a daily or weekly “summary” email of any updates that have happened in your child’s courses.
