COMPUTATION OF P VALUE USING CHI SQUARE TEST
chi square test The chi-square test function assesses whether differences between the observed and expected values represent chance, or sampling error. The function uses the syntax= CHITEST (Observed Frequency, Expected Frequency)The function returns the p-value.The following are the steps to be followed :
- Formulate the null hypothesis
- For finding Observed Frequency, prepare the Cross Tabulation with the help of Pivot Table for the given data
- After that, for calculating expected frequency, formulate the formula [=(e9*c9)/e11] in each cell
- Next, to estimate the p value, write the formula
- = CHITEST (Observed Frequency, Expected Frequency)
- Finally, Infer the null hypothesis.
- If the chi-square p-value is less than or equal to the significance level (α), the null hypothesis is rejected.
