Lacrosse
Auckland Lacrosse is holding a Under 13's Lacrosse League to run through June 2024.
I am reaching out to you to help promote this program by sharing it with your students/participants and encouraging their engagement.

Last term the basketball boys went to an invitational tournament at Dilworth. They had a great day on the court coming home with 4th place overall. If you have not already please make sure you have registered from term 2 basketball. All updates will on hero.
What a day! After some miserable weather last week, everyone was glad when the clouds parted and we got a glorious bright and sunny day to head out to Monte Cecilia Park on Tuesday for Central Zones Orienteering.
Our students did ANI proud, representing the school and the values throughout the day. There was a bit of down time but everyone managed their boredom and the growing anxiety for the event ahead.
While we are still waiting on our results we had a range of times over the 6 different courses. Huge shout out to:
Leo Swash (Room 28) who completed in 18:10
Gemma Kivell (Room 7) who finished in 20:36
Chloe Li (Room23/24c) who finished in 23:12
We have some budding cartographers and keen map enthusiasts around the school. Ka Pai!
Big thanks to Renee and Dani for help with admin and transport on the day. Looking forward to next year!

The girls had a great day out at CZ cricket today. They got off to a flying start with a satisfying win over Remuera Intermediate 44 - 34 showing that they weren't there just to make up numbers. Dominating wins over Dio and St Cuths had the girls as solid favourites going into the semis.
Some great keeping from Aila and batting from the Ceaens twins and Lucy made for an easy run into the final against RI. There they learnt that just because you have beaten a team once, does not necessarily mean you will again. RI made a flying start with the bat and set us a total of 61 (10.2 an over) to win.
A valiant effort with the bat had us regretting some of the wides we bowled chasing down to be within 7 at the end of the innings. Great skill and spirit shown all day. A shout out to Janice Cearns and James Hantz for coming and helping out with the day.

Softball girls
The girls had a great day out at the CZ softball tournament today. With a sport that was fairly new to all those involved, they picked up the jist of it quickly, and both teams managed wins early in the day.
As the day progressed the Year 7's continued to show improvement not only on the pitch but also with handshakes and chants and ended up winning 2 of their 4 games. A great job from Mrs T who had to answer no shortage of questions from a fresh and eager side who displayed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day. We are still waiting on their final placement, the girls desperately hoping it will be badge-worthy.
The year 8s had a few more games and got some much-enjoyed wins over Remuera and Pasadena finishing 2nd in their pool. This put them in a Semi-final against Ponsonby, a game we all wanted to win. It went down to the wire and with time being on our side, we managed to be up 5 - 3 as the hooter went. We were outplayed in the final by Kōwhai Intermediate, but the girls were all stoked about making it that far. 2nd was not expected.
A massive thanks to Brooke for all the organising and the girls for displaying a great attitude throughout the day.
Student news entry below:
With the first ball we played of the day, Isabelle launched a stunning home run, starting off our day in style. The team was very encouraging of one another despite the occasional spots of rain. We won Four of our games, tied once and lost Twice. Finishing with a spectacular 2nd place! Everyone had their moments and were so enthusiastic throughout the day! Big thank you to Mr Markham who drove us here and had to deal with our singing!

Softball boys
It was a challenging day out for the Year 7 & 8 boys today at softball today. With it being the first actual game for almost all involved, we struggled to gain momentum and lost our first few games against some pretty serious competition.
As confidence with mits, and at the plate grew, both teams managed to put some plays together and get runners home.
As the saying goes, you are only as good as your last game..... so we are winners, albeit only one game each year level.
Thanks to Rach for helping out and fielding some of the 4000 questions I was asked and to Cooper's, Gunner's and Rico's mum for transport and support.

CZ Girls Tennis
This week, we had some excitement at the tennis CZ! The matches started early in the morning on Tuesday for the girls and continued for the boys on Thursday. There were some close matches, with a few going into tiebreakers. There were winners all over, with a 1st in Y8 girls singles, a 2nd in Y7 boys doubles, a 3rd in Y8 boys singles and doubles. Overall, it was a great result, and we can't wait for more victories!
