Previous Updates

Monday, April 13, 2020 - Progress Reports, Grading Guidelines and Class of 2020 Information

Starting today, the district has implemented specific grading guidelines, and parents will be able to view progress reports through Skyward Family Access on April 17. The grading guidelines can be found on the AISD Extended Learning website under Resources, and more information about progress reports is included in the grading guidelines.

The grading guidelines are at a minimum level and are designed to allow students and parents to demonstrate successful learning from home. Teachers should be in contact with their students, and you can ask your child’s teacher and/or principal for help about the extended learning program. If you have not been in contact with your child’s teacher, then you need to do so as soon as possible. The best way to reach teachers is through email or Google Classroom. Any communication with teachers or principals needs to take place between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. (Please understand that it may take longer than usual for teachers and/or principals to respond during this situation; however, they will get back to you as soon as possible.)

We also want to remind you that the AISD Extended Learning website and the learning packets at each campus are updated every Monday while schools are closed, and teachers will continue their digital office hours through Zoom. These meetings can be done on any Internet-capable device, including a smartphone, and the links can be found on the AISD Extended Learning website under Resources and then Online Office Hours. These digital office hours are not required classes; they are there to allow teachers, students and classes to communicate with each other.

Finally, we know our seniors have many questions specific to them. We have created a Class of 2020 website on the AISD Update Center that has information about senior awards night, prom and graduation as well as answers to some frequently asked questions. The following is a link directly to the Class of 2020 website: www.angletonisd.net/classof2020.

If you still need help, you can call the Administration Building at 979-864-8000. You can leave a message, and your information will be forwarded to someone who can help. Someone will be on-call to answer phones and check messages on Mondays and Wednesdays only from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Tuesday, April 8 - Grading Policy and General Info

We believe it is important that we continue to track student progress as we have moved to a remote learning plan. We have worked to develop grading guidelines for our extended learning program. The grading guidelines can be found on the AISD Extended Learning website under Resources.

These grading guidelines are at a minimum level and are designed to allow students and parents to demonstrate successful learning from home.

Also, we are in the process of developing a plan for our Class of 2020 events, including prom, senior awards night, graduation, and cap and gown pickup. We will publicize the plan and post that information on the AISD Update Center on Monday evening.

Sunday, March 29:

Starting tomorrow, March 30, teachers will have digital office hours through Zoom, which is an online conferencing/meeting tool. This will allow students to check in with their teachers and classmates. These meetings can be done on any Internet-capable device, including a smartphone. The Zoom links can be found on the AISD Extended Learning website under Resources and then Online Office Hours. Just look for your teacher’s link and the time of the meeting. If your teacher is not listed, feel free to join another teacher from your current grade and current campus during their time. Students are not required to attend the Zoom office hours. It is just a chance for teachers, students, and classes to communicate with each other.

Also starting tomorrow, March 30, the Administration Building will be closed through April 3. If you have questions, you will need to contact your child’s principal. Email addresses can be found on campus websites.

Finally, we wanted to remind you that the AISD Extended Learning website and the learning packets at each campus will be updated tomorrow, March 30. The district will update information every Monday while schools are closed.

If you do have the ability to work online, we strongly encourage you to do so, but printed learning resources will be available in the vestibules at each campus, directly outside the front offices. Vestibules will be open Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

We strongly encourage you to obtain your work online if you can. To help promote social distancing, we ask that you go to the vestibule pick-up sites during specific windows of time-based on the student’s last name:

  • 9:00-10:00 am: Last Names A-F

  • 10:00-11:00 am: Last Names G-L

  • 12:00-1:00 pm: Last Names M-R

  • 1:00-2:00 pm: Last Names S-Z

Please go to the AISD Update Center for more information.

Wednesday, March 25: Welcome to the AISD Extended Learning website!

Angleton ISD is committed to making sure our students are still learning during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) health issue. While schools are closed, the district has created an extended, remote learning plan for our students that is flexible.

We understand some of our families may not have Internet access or computers. Our plan will get weekly learning resources in the hands of our students regardless of whether or not they have computer or Internet access.

You can access online resources and a daily learning schedule on the Angleton ISD Extended Learning website (www.angletonisd.net/extendedlearning), which is located in multiple places on the AISD website, including under the district homepage and under Students and Families on the website. The link can also be found on the AISD Update Center. The extended learning plan will be updated weekly.

If you have the ability to work online, we strongly encourage you to do so. If you do not have access to the online resources, printed copies of materials will be available starting tomorrow and then every Monday in the vestibules at each campus, directly outside the front offices. There are a limited number of printed copies at each campus. Again, please work online if you can.

To help promote social distancing, we are asking students and parents needing to pick up resources to come during specific windows of time based on the student’s last name (pick up once if you have children with different last names at same campus):

  • 9:00-10:00 am: Last Names A-F

  • 10:00-11:00 am: Last Names G-L

  • 12:00-1:00 pm: Last Names M-R

  • 1:00-2:00 pm: Last Names S-Z

If you need printed resources and cannot make it to the campus during that time frame or if the copies you need are not available, then please contact your child’s principal to schedule a time for pick-up. Please do not come to a campus if you are sick or have symptoms associated with the virus. Either send someone else or wait until you are clear of all symptoms. Also, please note that campus vestibules will be cleaned every day to help decrease potential spreading of germs and the virus.

Teachers and other employees will remain in contact with their students at least once a week. This may be by phone, email, or other means. At this time, we are not focused on grades. Our objective is to provide feedback to students and parents so that our students continue to grow.

We are very proud of our AISD staff for the work that they have done to develop an extended learning plan that helps meet the needs of our students and their families. Our teachers, instructional coaches, and members of our curriculum team are committed to helping our students and families throughout the school closure. If you have questions, they are available to help. You can submit questions about the learning plan online under the Contact/Help section on the AISD Extended Learning website. You can also contact your child’s teacher or principal.

We understand that our families are making this learning transition with us, and we are grateful for what our parents are doing to help make sure their children are continuing to learn and grow during this difficult time. We are here to help. Remember, we are the A-Team--school, home and community coming together to educate our children!

March 18th: New activities added to 3rd-5th and 6th-8th student pages. Also, the "What is Coronavirus?" section now contains education for families from BrainPop.

March 17th: Resources added for PK-2 and 6th-8th. New information in the Parents section.
