A Robotic First Mate to set your sails!
The shipping industry plays a crucial role in the global economy, responsible for the
transportation of goods and materials across vast distances. However, this industry faces
numerous challenges, including increasing operational costs, rising labor costs, and increased
scrutiny due to environmental impacts. In recent years, the application of robotics has
become a promising solution to many of these challenges. In this project, we aim to explore
the potential of robotics in the shipping industry by developing a mobile robot called “Black Flag” which can autonomously engage with the different electromechanical devices like switches and valves on the ship reducing both human effort and error.
In this project, Shipbot will be developed and tested to handle various tasks related
to switches and valves on the ship. The robot will be designed to work in challenging environments aboard the ship. The robot will also be equipped with advanced sensors and software algorithms to enable it to perform its tasks with a high degree of accuracy and safety. It is our hope that this project will demonstrate the potential of robotics technology and
encourage other companies and organizations to invest in similar initiatives.
