NextGen Project
The goal of the NextGen Project is to develop learning experiences for children and teenagers ages 8-17 to explore historic roots and present-day manifestations of systemic racism.
While many students, caregivers, and educators hold a desire for diversity, inclusion, and social justice to be tenets of their school and community cultures, a lack of evidence-based resources can hinder caregiver and educator attempts to help children navigate these serious, complicated topics.
The NextGen Project aims to support and amplify the efforts of school and community leaders, educators, and caregivers by producing (1) a much-needed educational resource specifically designed for children and young teenagers in the form of age-appropriate videos, learning activities, and discussion questions; and (2) complementary assessment materials that measure learning.
The NextGen Project aims to to provide anti-racist education to youth in school and community settings in a way that is strengths-based, age-appropriate, and collaborative.

We also welcome individual children to participate in the remote version of the study: an hour-long conversation with a trained researcher over Zoom. If you are a caregiver who would like to learn more, click here.
