Conversations Project

Let's Talk About Racism

What do children know about racism? How do conversations about racism change children’s understanding of racial inequities?

We are a team of researchers studying the impact of conversations about racism with children between ages 8 and 14. If you have a child between the ages of 8-14, we invite you to learn more about our project and sign-up to participate in this two-part study, which focuses on anti-Black racism in the United States.

Part I

A brief survey for a child’s caregiver

Part I of this project consists of a brief survey about your family practices relating to the issues of racism.  The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. If you choose to end participation here you will receive a $5 gift card to a bookstore.

Part II

Zoom session(s) for your child with researchers

After participating in Part I, you will have an option to enroll your child in Part II of the study. Part II will involve an hour long Zoom conversation with our trained researchers. You are welcome to observe these conversations if you’d like. To thank you and your child for participation, we will send you a $30 gift card. We will provide you with additional information about Part II of the study if you are interested after completing the survey in Part I.
