No costs are recorded here as we didn't stay for a full day and ate no meals, thus they would be meaningless.

Montenegro was an accidental stop on the trip, planned for convenience of the flight from Manchester, and proximity to Lake Shkoder, which Julie had been told was a must-visit spot in Albania. Our flying visit consisted of one night in Podgorica and an early bus to Shkoder the next morning,

Podgorica

There isn't much to say about Podgorica, other than the taxi from the Airport was straightforward, and the Hotel Terminus was pleasant enough, with a nice breakfast including meats, cheeses and pancakes.

Sunday 27th August

Arrived at Podgorica Airport late and stepped out into the balmy night. I swear that moment when you leave the air conditioned cabin of your plane and step out somewhere hot is one of the best parts of a holiday. Luggage was available straight off the carousel, and we left the small airport terminal easily and found a cab. He wanted 25 Euros for the trip into town, so we offered 20 which was accepted. As a note, others paid 15!

Check in at the hotel was simple - we were greeted by a very friendly cat and a gentleman with some English, who checked us in and told us the breakfast times. The room was fine, and had air conditioning, so we settled in to sleep.

Monday 28th August

A nice breakfast of toast, pancakes, meats and cheeses, before heading to the bus station adjoining the hotel. After a brief wait, we boarded the mini-bus to Shkoder and made out way safely out of Montenegro and into Albania. I spent the two hours perched in the back row of the minibus with a Norwegian and an American travelling to Shkoder to meet an Australian. As you do.
