South Cooperative Theater (SCT) is open to students at South in grades 3,4,5. This theater program rehearses after school throughout January, February and March.  Under the direction of Beth Kennedy and other school staff, the students work to put on a full-scale musical at the beginning of March. Throughout the rehearsal process, students learn about teamwork and build self-confidence. Past musicals have included Seussical Jr., Beauty and the Beast Jr. and My Son Pinocchio Jr. Performances are held at West Middle School.

Doherty School Drama Club

The Drama Club offers students the opportunity to participate in all phases of a theatrical production including: set/technical design, musical accompaniment, costume design, publicity, and of course, acting on stage. Teamwork, enthusiasm and creative thinking are fundamental in our meetings and performances. There are many opportunities for student leadership roles.

Student Apprenticeship roles include:

All cast members will be required to attend weekly rehearsals and may be asked to provide materials for costumes and set production. Students with all talents are welcome! Whether students are looking to learn new skills or develop an existing interest, Doherty Drama Club invites students to be part of the creative, collaborative team to produce a memorable performance scheduled to storm the stage!

Wood Hill School Drama Club

Wood Hill's drama club are co-directed by Gina Murray and Katie Rey

As has become the custom at Wood Hill, there will be student directors, student choreographers, student tech crew, and stage crew. We do not "cut" students.   All are welcome to participate in whatever capacity one wishes.  There is also a student pit orchestra that provides musical accompaniment for the show.

West Middle School Drama Club

As members of the drama club, students will have the opportunity to experience the process of performing and producing a musical.  With the guidance of experienced teachers, students audition to participate in the cast or volunteer to be a part of the stage-crew .  Students in the show learn the fundamentals of acting, singing, and dancing and how these three elements contribute to a successful production.  Students on stage-crew learn about lighting, set changes, cueing, and curtain operation.  The drama club also enlists student musicians to learn and perform professional level music, giving even more students the chance to experience musical theater.  Students are taught that every person, whether a performer, a crew-member, or musician, is important in putting on a high quality show.  Students rehearse for 2-3 months, and the final show is performed at the West Middle School Auditorium.   At the end of the process, students in the drama club will witness the spectacular results of supportive and cooperative collaboration.
