Veterans Day 2024

The 7th and 8th-grade students from Ms. Baldwin, Ms. Bailey, and Ms. Barker's art classes created stunning collaborative collages to honor our community veterans. Each student contributed by crafting an individual piece using construction paper, which was then assembled into a larger, cohesive artwork. The theme for this year's project was 'Liberty,' and students chose to highlight three iconic symbols of freedom in our country. Through their careful use of color, shape, and texture, they brought to life powerful images that represent liberty, paying tribute to the values and history our veterans have fought to protect.

The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France in 1886, stands in New York Harbor as a symbol of freedom, democracy, and hope. Representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty, she welcomes immigrants and travelers, embodying the ideals of freedom and opportunity in the United States. (Baldwin's class)

The Liberty Bell, housed in Philadelphia, is an iconic symbol of American independence. Originally cast in 1752, it rang during key moments in U.S. history. Its famous crack and the inscription "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land" represent freedom and the enduring struggle for equality and justice. (Bailey's class)

The torch held by the Statue of Liberty symbolizes enlightenment and the pursuit of knowledge. It represents the guiding light of freedom, illuminating the path for those seeking liberty. Raised high in her right hand, the torch inspires hope and progress, a beacon for all who seek freedom. (Barker's class)
