I am extremely grateful for all of the opportunities that I was given here at AIT in Media Tech and Film. Taking all four courses in the past two years has really shown me that Film and Cinematography is what I want to purse in my future. Having two amazing instructors who taught me everything I know today, I am now able to create visual art that expresses me.
I plan to pursue my passion in cinematography, filming and directing. The average pay rate of a cinematographer is roughly 59,000 a year and a directors average pay rate is roughly 200,000 to 500,000 per project. Though big numbers in pay checks are nice, I strive beyond that. I want to use my interest in cinema to create stories that socially and personally comentate. I want to spread a message but also be artistically interesting in my work. After highschool I plan to attend either Tri County Tech College then transfer to a film school, or attend North Carolina School of the Arts.
THE EFFECT
THE EFFECT is a short psychological film based on the negative effects of media. I wanted to socially commentate on how the news and other media sources drew us apart during 2020. I decided to take this idea and place it in the year 1953 when the first color TV was released. During this time, media and entertainment were being changed and transformed. In-home entertainment became the new "trend."
In the making of the film:
Writing the screenplay I knew I wanted to create something that was different. I felt really strong on the topic of media and how it affected people.
1953 was a time of change for entertainment. Making my film have the visual representation as if it were 1953 was probably one of the most challenging parts. But with a lot of help and guidance, I was able to find the right outfits, props, and locations that represented the time period.
