There are 3 components to tryouts:
1) Fitness Tests
2) Technical Tests
3) Soccer IQ/Game-Like Performances
Fitness Tests
Players will be given a numerical score for their fitness abilities. Players with the most points should ultimately be the players that end up on varsity, however there is not a fitness score minimum for making Varsity.
Players can set program records on these fitness tests and be recognized for setting new records.
*Only a handful of these fitness tests will be chosen for evaluation at tryouts. We will NOT be doing all of them. This is just a list of all the possible tests that could be used.*
Technical Tests
The Elite 8 is the technical part of tryouts. Juggling, Dutch Gates, and Aerial Control (Volleys) are the three tests that all Varsity players must pass and then each player must pass 5 of the other 7 technical tests.
JV will do these tests too, but are not required to score a certain amount in order to make JV.
Soccer IQ
Game-Like Performances
There will be game like drills and small sided scrimmaging where girls will demonstrate their understanding of the game, ability to lead, and game decision making skills.
Players will be given a score using the follwing rubric and their goal will be to get the highest score.
*7th Grade and 8th Grade Players will be given a score for this category but are unable to play for the Varsity Team if they score a 3 or 4 until 9th grade.*
Coach Hawley will use her YouTube Channel to post information for players to further study the game at home. All players need to make sure they can access the link above.
All players (both Varsity and JV) are expected to have the following position numbers memorized.
These are the player and parent expectations for all players that accept a spot on either the Varsity or JV Women's team. These documents are to help clearly communicate how Coach Hawley will manage her teams.
