TEAM Pillars
These are the pillars which build a foundation for our success as a team. All players must commit to the mentality provided by each of these pillars if they want to have a successful season with this team.
These are the pillars which build a foundation for our success as a team. All players must commit to the mentality provided by each of these pillars if they want to have a successful season with this team.
Players are loyal to their teammates, loyal to their coaches, loyal to their families, and loyal to their school. We show up even on our bad days and we help others through their bad days. A winning team is not the team that shows up on game day with everyone playing at their best. A winning team is the team that knows how to maintain the same level of intensity and passion on the field, even when some players are not at 100%. This is what will win us championships.
Every single girl, coach, and parent knows that growth is what we strive for every day and every season. We also know that growth is never linear. You will have bad days, you will have bad weeks, and you will have bad seasons, but over time we will see progress and we will strive to do our best.
Players and parents respect themselves, their coaches, their families, their teammates, the referees, and ESPECIALLY the other team. We will never walk onto a field (home or away) with the intent to disrespect another team. We play with pride and dignity and we let our skills and our passion for the game speak for itself. We will win with grace and good attitudes, NOT with bad intentions and trash talk. Cursing at other players, refs, or fans will NOT be tolerated.
Players trust each other on and off the field. Trust on the field means that players will pass the ball to each other and trust that the other player will do their best to take care of the ball. Trust on the field looks like the goalie telling defenders what to do in a wall to protect the goal from a free kick and the players on the field actually listening to the goalie instead of doubting her. Trust off the field means that girls will not spread rumors about each other and not share personal information about each other outside of soccer. Trust means players will be honest with each other, their coaches, and their family members. Lies are not tolerated in our team culture.
Players are excited and thankful to be part of the family that is Hanna Women's Soccer. Items that are out of our control are not to be worried about or complained over. We keep our heads down when there is chaos and we work hard for what we have instead of complaining and acting like we deserve things that we don't work for. An ungrateful attitude will not be tolerated in our team culture. We will always focus on what we do have and what we can do instead of the opposite.
Many of the goals for this team include winning games, but the most important goal for this team is to create a competitive environment where players find joy in practice and games. Without joy, players will never be able to endure the hard work it takes to become one of the best players on the field or one of the most successful adults in the real world. Coach Hawley wants each of her players to walk away from high school soccer with memories that extend further than the game field. This team will create a safe space to compete and grow so that players will achieve their long term soccer and life goals and cherish their Hanna Soccer experiences forever.
