Comprehension of oral language (teacher talk & student talk) can be really hard in a second language due to speed, vocabulary, and pronunciation
Practicing oral language in English is important to develop fluency and vocabulary, but rehearsal is key to building confidence
With new content, it can be helpful for MLPs to first preview the material in their native language to build general understanding of the content before trying to learn it in English
Comprehension for MLPs can be even more difficult when the text and vocabulary are too complex for current language and/or reading levels
Demonstrating understanding of content should be differentiated for MLPs depending on their levels
