Community Service

All Andalusia High School students are eligible, and encouraged, but not required, to participate in the community service program.

Hours that count:

-United Way Agencies

-Non Profit agencies

-Special Olympics

-School Volunteer programs

-Chamber of Commerce

-Political Action

-Nursing homes, hospitals, non-profit clinics

-Museums

-Libraries

-Service club activities that provide a benefit to the community

-After school tutor/mentors

-Hours deemed acceptable by community service coordinator

-Club hours for school service count as 1/4 hour.

-Items brought for a club project may receive a maximum of 15 minutes per year.

Hours that do not count:

-Regular practice and meeting times for extra curricular clubs and activities

-Saturday school or any detention/work detail

-Court ordered community service

-Church acitvities or any activities related to worship or envangelization

-Service performed for pay

-Service performed for credit or required as part of a credited class

-Babysitting

-Veterinarians and physicians' offices

-School music or dramatic productions where credit is earned

-For profit organizations

-Service related to armed service recruitment requirements

-Service related to or required by a pageant or contest.

Hours need to be turned in directly to Mrs. Maynor using the community service form. This form is provided in the Guidance Office. Questions may be sent to maynorl@andalusia.k12.al.us
