Provincial Master's Message
Dear Sisters and Brothers, Sorores and Fraters;
I often wonder about my true, spiritual, state. Given that the physical world with its duality, its foundation on time and space, its gift of learning from karmic events, is a temporary abode and that we will, eventually, evolve out of the need for this earthly school, what is my true spiritual self and how is it different from my current physical self?
There are parts of my current self that seem the result of, or dependent upon, only the physical world. The need to plan for the future, long term or just to go get groceries, is such a item. Planning is an artifact of time passage and the need to take care of the future and how we want the future to unfold – not necessary in the timeless, eternal, spiritual realm. I also think about relationships with other people, relatives, friends, associates. In the cosmic realm all these people are part of the same soul and have no separation, and no need for communication – they all are one. Learning and experiencing are also a relic of this physical dimension. In our spiritual state we would have complete knowledge and acquiring more information seems irrelevant and useless. And there are countless other examples of unique peculiarities of this material world.
Perhaps my conception of existence in the Cosmic dimension is inaccurate (how could I know much about the realm I have yet to achieve?) but that doesn’t stop me from wondering.
It is worth trying to understand and, perhaps, imagining experiencing our pure spiritual nature for it takes us home – to our real, eternal, home - and we can put our physical existence in correct perspective and can appreciate the purpose and opportunities of being on this plane. “We are spiritual beings having a physical experience.” We would do well to dwell on the nature of our spiritual essence independent of our physical being. Try it and get to know yourself better.
May you ever dwell in the Eternal Light of Divine Wisdom!
