Sisters and Brothers, Sorores and Fraters;
How are we approaching life? I know that there are a lot of people out there that have a set pattern for their approach. They tend to look at the past with a mixture of nostalgia and regret, perhaps wishing they had reacted a little differently to some event. They may look to the future with a little apprehension, not quite sure they are ready for the next big hurdle that the universe will throw at them. And then there is the present – most of us are so overwhelmed by daily life that what we yearn for mostly is escape – movies, TV, internet, reality shows, social networks, etc. Examine your life and see if you follow any of these patterns.
We, as mystics, know that these types of reactions are non-productive. The past was a great school in which we learned what worked and what didn’t work. As such our attitude is one of gratitude and integration of all we have learned. The future is a further training ground and what is more, we have a large degree of control over what it brings through our mental creation teachings. The future is a gift from the Cosmic and our inner selves. And what of the present? We know what we are seeking in life – inner peace, understanding, Cosmic attunement. We should be actively working toward these things rather than seeking escape from them. Let’s continue to study the lessons from our Orders and to apply what we are learning. Let’s resolve to seek periods of Cosmic contact, to meditate in our Sanctums and Oratories, to be open to the messages and insights that are always and continually being sent to us. The future is exciting and we know that it can only bring us further gifts in the understanding of life.
Why waste life in regret, fear, and escape? It is an adventure and we, like Indiana Jones, should be looking forward with excitement and anticipation to what awaits us around the bend in the river of life. And with the tools our Orders have provided us, we have the advantage.
May you ever dwell in the Eternal Light of Divine Wisdom!
