Christian Counselling Training
Under the leadership of Apostle Lorette, AMO offers Christian counselling training with a strong practical and cross-cultural focus.
This focuses on Christian counselling that is complimented by psychological formal training and theories as well as other helping professions. This course has a strong practical focus.
Our students serve in:
Churches
Their own practice
Counselling training is also integrated into many of our Bible Schools, so leaders can serve their communities with wisdom, compassion and professional care.
For students who have successfully completed at least three years of AMO Bible College SA training (up to Diploma level), we offer a focused Ordination Course for those called into full-time ministry and pastoral leadership.
This is a 10-month practical ministry track designed to:
Equip future pastors, evangelists and leaders with the practical skills of preaching and teaching
Prepare students for the responsibilities of ordination in the local church
Develop character, integrity and Christ-like leadership alongside theological knowledge
Help students understand the legal, ethical and pastoral aspects of ministry
The Ordination Course includes:
Practical training in sermon preparation and delivery
Guidance in leading services, communion, baptisms, weddings and funerals
Mentoring in pastoral care, counselling basics, and team leadership
Exposure to missions, evangelism and community outreach
Assessment of calling, character and readiness for ordination
Ordination is not automatic. It is a prayerful and accountable process that considers:
Successful completion of academic requirements (minimum 3 years)
Faithful participation in local church life
Demonstrated character, humility and servanthood
Confirmation of calling and suitability for pastoral ministry
This course is ideal for those who sense a clear call from God to shepherd His people, plant churches, or step into recognized leadership within their church or ministry network.
Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process provides an opportunity for applicants to receive academic consideration based on prior learning gained through ministry experience, work practice, life experience, and previous formal or informal studies.
This application is designed for individuals who believe their learning and experience are equivalent to the outcomes of formal theological study and who wish to apply for admission or advanced standing in our Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, or Doctorate of Theology programmes.
Each application is assessed individually by our academic panel to ensure integrity, fairness, and alignment with our institutional and academic standards.
