Camp Fitch is a great experience for our students and we are looking forward to a great time in September. Camp is a great time for us to get to know your children and see them in different situations where we focus on team building. We thank you for your interest in volunteering to chaperone this trip. We know that if you chaperone, you are taking time away from your families and jobs. Before we leave for North Springfield, PA, we wanted to inform you about a few details.
Before you can be considered for the job, you have to complete the following tasks:
Complete the Volunteer Application required by the district.
Complete the Fingerprinting Form from the Education Service Center and make an appointment at their facility. A clear background check is needed to attend.
Submit a copy of your driver's license to Mrs. Henry and/or Mrs. Kinser.
Important Information
If you think you have a background check on file with the district from a previous camp trip, it is your responsibility to contact Janet Guggenbiller (janet_guggenbiller@amherstk12.org) and have it added to our chaperone list. She will then update your information to reflect that you have a background check on file.
If we have more chaperones than needed, we will choose chaperones based on the date all paperwork and background checks were received. Those who attended the May meeting and completed their paperwork will be given priority.
If you are signing up after the May meeting and are printing out the above paperwork, please deliver it to Nord to the attention of Mrs. Kinser and Mrs. Henry.
The day we leave for camp, you will need to be at Nord by 8:30 a.m. You are welcome to hang out in the cafeteria upon your arrival. You and another chaperone will be in charge of one group of approximately 14 students. To make Camp Fitch a positive, memorable experience, we would need your help completing the following duties:
Load and unload the luggage on the busses
Ride the bus with your child’s homeroom teacher
Eat each meal with a group of 6-7 students
Escort your group of students from activity to activity
Supervise an option time activity (dodgeball, beach walks, gaga ball, etc.)
Participate in evening programs with your group
Be a positive leader and role model
Encourage all students to participate in all activities
Promote group teamwork
Have fun!
We would be returning to Amherst at approximately 2 p.m. When we arrive, you will need to help unload the bus. Then, you and your child are free to go home.
Please plan to ride the bus to and from camp. You are welcome to leave your car at Nord (do not park in the back lot as that area is needed for recess). If you leave your car at Nord, please note that we will be dropped off at Grow Point Church on Cooper Foster that afternoon. If needed, one of the busses can transport anyone back to Nord. Please let us know if you will need this ride.
