Section 1: Inquiry Statement
We can combine colors, shapes, and lines to transform a flat looking surface into a 3 dimensional looking artwork, by creating different shades and glows to add more of a depth and volume to the piece making it more realistic and adding more enhancment to establish the shape. Also, we can use overlapping lines or shapes to create a sense of depth or shallowness in peoples perspective. Another example, is when using converging lines, leading to a vanishing point, also creating depth and shallowness from different perspectives. Using these techniques, this could help a simple flat drawing look more dimensional and feel like a sphere.
Section 2: Connection
Name of the artist: Sari
Name of the painting: Raspberry disco art
I was deeply inspired by how Sari used different shades and tones of similar colors throughout the discoball. Mostly, i was focused in using different tones of the same color, and filling few squares with totally different colors like its seen with the orange color in the artwork. I was inspired to copy this artwork piece, since I was amazed by the coloring of the squares, and decided to create a similar pattern with my work.
Section 3: Investigate
First, we started off by expirimenting with mixing our primary colors, to create shades, tones, secondary, and tertiary colors. During this activity, we learnt how to split complimentary colors, and create darker and lighter shades of colors to create more depth in a painting. After expirimenting with this, we had to choose inbetween different levels of discoballs, ranging from easier to harder. During this, we learnt the skill of graphite transfering. Which is a technique that lets you transfer and trace an image into another paper, or in our case plates, by coloring the back with graphite pecil.
Section 4: Create
After graphite tranfering my template into the paper plate, I decided to choose the colors and tones I wanted to use. Todo this project, I decided to follow the inspiration picture I previously had, and started tracing the lines with a light shade of pink. Then, I settled into using different shades of pink, followed by a few different colors like purple and orange.
Section 5: Final Artwork

Section 6: Communicate and Reflect
During this project, I faced a lot of ups and downs. Some of the challenges I faced were not finding the perfect shade. This was a problem since I sometimes couldnt get a shade that matched properly with the other colors and tones I was using, so it took me a while to find very diffrent matching tones. But I acheived this by mixing various different colors I was using in my palet to create something new that would match. Something that went well during this project, was having an idea of my project pictured in my mind. Since browsing in the web, I had a clear idea of how my layout was going to look like and what kind of colors i would like to use. A goal I had, was to learn more brush control, since sometimes I cannot control the brish properly, and paint outside the lines, but during this project, I learnt that to fix this problem, I just needed to work slower, calmer, and more patiently.
