ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Freedom 250 YES Alumni Internship Program connects highly motivated Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program alumni with American host organizations worldwide. By participating in the program, YES alumni interns will gain hands-on experience, professional development, skill-building, and networking opportunities, while their hosts will benefit from high-performing interns who offer technical proficiency, local knowledge, innovative problem-solving, leadership skills, and the capacity to support projects that advance the effectiveness and reach of American host organizations in the U.S. and abroad.

Important!

Please note that the Freedom 250 YES Alumni Internship Program is a learning and professional development program, not an employment opportunity. Interns are not entitled to wages or to any promise of employment upon completion. Each intern will receive a modest monthly stipend to help cover expenses related to transportation, meals, internet access, and similar needs.

The Alumni Internship Program is administered by American Councils for International Education through the YES program.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Visit the Available Internships section to review the list of internship opportunities available for the Summer 2026 cohort.

Please note: All YES alumni are eligible to apply for virtual internships. However, in-person and hybrid opportunities are open only to alumni who are currently residing in the location where the internship is offered.

2. If any internship opportunities interest you, please complete the application form by May 3: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/yesinternship2026

As part of the application, you will be asked to indicate:

Motivation for applying
CV or Resume
Relevant skills, language proficiency
1-3 internship opportunities you would like to be considered for in order of preference

Build lasting relationships between American organizations and companies and YES alumni, creating pathways for future collaboration that advance U.S. economic leadership and strengthen international partnerships.
Equip YES alumni with practical skills and professional development opportunities, fostering future‑focused competencies that enhance employability, career readiness, and leadership potential.
Provide structured, high‑impact internships that enable alumni to apply technical skills and problem‑solving to meaningful projects, produce clear outcomes, and build strong early‑career pathways and professional networks with American businesses.
