The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest Program Deadline: October 15, 2024 Eligibility: Eligible participants in The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest shall be citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the United States. All contestants must be bona fide students under the age of twenty (20) years on the date of the National Contest who are presently enrolled in a high school or junior high school (public, parochial, military, private or state accredited home school) in which the curriculum of said high school is considered to be of high school level, commencing with grade nine (9) and terminating with grade twelve (12). Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation at any level of The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest. Contestants must either be legally domiciled within or attend an educational institution within the Department (State) that they enter competition. Contestants can enter competition through only one Department. The three finalists of the National Contest will be ineligible for further participation at any level. Award: Young orators earn some of the most generous college scholarships available to high school students. Over $203,500 in scholarships can be awarded each year. The overall national contest winner gets a $25,000 scholarship. Second place takes home $22,500, and third gets $20,000. Each department (state) winner who is certified into and participates in the national contest’s first round receives a $2,000 scholarship. Those who advance past the first round receive an additional $2,000 scholarship. The Hagan Scholarship Foundation
Deadline: December 1, 2024 Eligibility: 2024-2025 Eligibility Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must attend an Eligible Public High School. Must have achieved a 3.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college. Must work 240 hours during the twelve months prior to fall semester college enrollment. Deadline: February 1, 2024 Eligibility: The Career Scholars Cooperative Education Program is an accelerated curriculum program that will arm you with the knowledge as well as the soft skills to work in a business during your senior year. In your first three years at WSC, you'll have the opportunity to engage with participating business partners through site visits, job shadowing, and mentorships. The Coyner and Donna Smith Diversity Scholarship - Deadline January 28
The Mission of the Smith Diversity Scholarship is to provide a post-secondary education to Nebraska’s graduating seniors from underrecognized backgrounds, facing financial barriers, who display academic aptitude, leadership, determination toward goals, and a spirit for making an impact.
In 2024, we will award four renewable scholarships of $25,000 per year to four-year institutions; and two renewable scholarships of $12,500 per year to two-year trade school institutions. Students can attend any accredited institution.
Due to the flexibility of these funds - which are intended to help students beyond the traditional tuition, books and housing - this is one of the most unique scholarships available in the country.

Applicants must be an ethnic minority with a household income under $65,000.
Applicants must be a 2024 graduating senior attending a Nebraska public, private, charter school or home school association, or have obtained their GED.
Applicants must plan to begin their freshman year of post-secondary education the following academic year.
Applicants do not need to be a U.S. citizen.
Awards will be announced around April 1, 2024.

Great Plains Communications College Scholarship: Are you a graduating senior and a customer of GPC? If so, you are eligible to apply for the Great Plains Communications Scholarship! We grant up to 21 scholarships to seniors in Nebraska and Indiana, with amounts ranging from $1000 to $5000. Scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis.

The Career Scholarship program offers Chadron, Peru and Wayne State students to attain their degrees at an affordable cost while also providing career experience through internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
