a day in the life

Angelique Barnett, Amana's STEM Director, shares with Georgia Public Broadcasting what it's like teaching at an Expeditionary STEM school. Click the link below to read her guest blog post on the GPB website.

who we are

Founded in 2005, the family of Amana Academy Charter Schools is an educational community with a mission to academically prepare students to be 21st-century STEM leaders and changemakers. Our public schools are tuition-free and non-sectarian; and our unique educational model is rooted in the EL Education model – a pioneering organization in the world of socially-conscious project-based education that empowers kids to be leaders of their own learning and bring positive change to their communities.

what we do

Powered by the Harvard-based EL Education model, our learner-centered, research-based approach meets all students where they are. Through rigor, social-emotional support, and STEM programming, it grows them faster than other schools into high-achieving collaborative citizen scholars. 99% of our students go on to graduate from high school with B+ averages and honors/AP classes.

Amana is a place where students feel like they belong and can thrive. We celebrate students and students celebrate each other. From morning Crew to after-school enrichment clubs; and from Community Circle and friendly House competitions to end-of-semester Celebrations of Learning, student life at Amana is culturally rich and globally inclusive.

equitable, engaging classrooms

Amana students come from diverse backgrounds and have unique perspectives yet they learn from each other to appreciate differences and embrace diversity of thought and experience. We meet every student where they are, and grow them to their fullest potential. Their success is measured not just by grades, but also by the quality of their work and by how they demonstrate character.
