Teaching has been my calling since I was a child and I am truly thrilled to share my love of learning with all my students! It is my hope to not only educate my students, but to inspire and help them grow in their love of learning!
I am so excited to be part of the Ave Maria Academy faculty and cannot wait to make new memories at this amazing school. This is my second year teaching 4th and 5th Grade ELA and Social Studies. I am so excited for the new challenge. Previously, I taught Kindergarten and enjoyed the adventure of helping our youngest students experience school for the first time! Prior to working at Ave Maria Academy, I was extremely lucky to have been part of the Our Lady of Grace faculty for nineteen years. The first half of my time there was spent in the First Grade and then transitioned to Third Grade teacher, as well as Drama teacher for grades sixth through eighth. In addition to my teaching duties, I also sponsored the O.L.G. Cabaret Players, the O.L.G. Drama Club, and assisted with Tiger Talk, which was our morning news program. I have been a mentor teacher for those who are starting their teaching careers and a student teacher supervisor. Six years ago, I was honored to receive the Diocese of Pittsburgh Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence.
I am a graduate of Saint Vincent College where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree. I then continued my studies at Duquesne University where I earned my Masters. I am certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and I also have my Reading Specialist Certificate. Over the past few years I became a certified DIBELS mentor and trainer, as well as a Google Level I Educator. I continue to pursue professional development opportunities and bring what I learn into my classroom to make my curriculum both fresh and current.
When not teaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends. You can find me cheering on my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers! I enjoy traveling, reading, and going to the movies and the theater. My favorite things are owls, the colors purple and teal, and baking cupcakes. I love all things Disney and cannot wait to go back to Disney World soon.
