Before you rent, READ THIS!

FYI: We use Lisle Violin Shop as our local rental shop.

*This pamphlet is for informational use only. Prices on this flyer are from another, non-local shop. You are free to rent from any shop you wish, however, local shops like Lisle service our school on a weekly basis and repairs/replacements are delivered to the school.

The first thing you need to do for your child once they have chosen an instrument with the help of the Director, is to rent an instrument.

Stringed instruments come in different sizes, and each child will need to be fitted for a specific size. One size does not fit all!

Due to COVID, the Director is unable to size you in person for an instrument. Please refer to the SIZING GUIDE PAGE for reference. You will need to know what size your child needs before calling the rental shop.

If you have an instrument that was inherited or gifted from someone, the first thing you need to do is to have the Director look at it to determine if it is in playable condition and if it is the correct size for your child. Please read "VSO" pamphlet above.

Note: Almost all "online" brands are not playable. You get what you pay for, so if it was $100, it will likely not be a good model. Unfortunately, I come across a lot of instruments purchased either online, from pawn shops, or from places that do not specialize in strings. Please DO NOT PURCHASE any such instrument without getting the Director's help! It will save you money in the long run, and your child will not end up with something that is unplayable.

Rental PROS

Instrument insurance is included - broken strings, servicing of accidental damage, you're covered. Check your contract for specifics.

You'll get an instrument of nice quality. Made and serviced by string players. A great deal!

When your child grows, they will upgrade to the next size at no cost.
