about me

Hi! My name is Torey McCord and I am the Advanced Academics Specialist here at Wilder. This is my 5th year in this position, but my 13th year at Wilder and in Alvin ISD. When I first started at Wilder, I taught 2nd grade, then I moved to 4th grade Science for a few years and then 5th grade Science for a few more. Science has my heart!

I absolutely love teaching here and watching all of our Wolves as they grow and change from Kindergarten to 5th grade!

My day consists of teaching our GT students, testing new students for Gifted and Talented services, and helping teachers differentiate their lessons for our GT learners. The best way to get in contact with me is to email me at tmccord@alvinisd.net. I will do my best to get back with you within 24 business hours. You may also call the front office and leave me a message: 281-245-3090.

My Family

My husband and I have been married for 11 years and we have two beautiful daughters who attend Wilder here with me: Lilley in 4th grade and Molley in 1st grade. We also have two new puppies we adopted last summer: Penney and Lyla.

We live in the area and try to attend most of the Wilder Nights and community events that are hosted by Alvin ISD. You may see us out eating dinner or enjoying shopping, etc. Well, probably not for awhile until COVID dies down and it is safe to do all of these things again!

If you would like to set up a conference with me to discuss your current GT student or need to speak with me about possible GT services for your child, please use this link. You will be directed to my YouCanBookMe website so you can compare my available times with yours. This makes scheduling easier for everyone! As soon as you book a time, I get an email and the appointment goes straight onto my calendar. Please make sure to leave detailed information in the "purpose of conference" box so I can be adequately for our meeting.

From time to time our class is in need of specialized supplies and materials for the projects and activities we complete in GT. If you would like to make a donation to our class, here is our class Amazon Wish List.

Amazon does not always send the gift tag with who purchased items off of the Wish Lists, so I do not know who to thank! I have received quite a few treasured gifts, but I have no idea who sent them. So if you donated something to the class and I haven't thanked you, that is why. THANK YOU!!!
