Internships

Role of the school social work intern

School social work interns are highly valued in the Alton District and are given many of the same responsibilities as social work staff. There are opportunities to work with individuals, groups and families. Interns are expected to work in teaming relationship with parents, students, teachers, counselors, nurses and school psychologists. Interns provide services in small group, individual and in a variety of classroom settings. Interns are involved with linking families with community resources, participating on IEP teams, and implementing behavior supports.

Semester and year long internships can be arranged however interns need to be able to work at least three days per week. The practicum begins in late August and continues through May.
