Alton High School AP Courses/AP Testing
What is AP?
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a cooperative educational endeavor between high schools and colleges, and is based on the principle that many students are capable of completing college level studies in secondary school. The majority of US high schools participate in the AP program, and more than a thousand colleges grant advanced standing and/or credits to students presenting satisfactory examination grades. The exams consist of multiple choice questions, free-response, and oral response. These tests are optional for the student and therefore it is the student's responsibility to register and pay the fee associated with the exams.

Taking AP Exams
Students interested in taking an Advanced Placement Exam should do the following:
Pay for your exam in the bookkeeping office, and take it on its scheduled date in May. The cost of each exam is $94. If your family is experiencing a hardship, please see Mrs. Williams in the Counseling office.
Prepare for your exam and complete practice assessments. The website below will help you in preparing: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/takingtheexam/preparing-for-exams
Students will receive their test results in July. Scores will also be sent to Alton High School and any colleges designated by the student.
College Board's AP Late Testing Policy
To preserve the security of AP Exams, alternate forms are used for late testing. All students who participate in late testing at a given school must take these alternate exams on the scheduled late-testing dates at the scheduled times. Get your join code from your teacher. Each exam has a unique code. See Mrs. Williams in the Guidance office for exam only join codes.
