Modern Classroom Project

• Blended Learning (In a Modern Classroom, educators forego the traditional front-of-class lecture to provide shorter forms of direct instruction that students can access whenever and wherever they might be. In this way, educators duplicate themselves digitally, allowing them to more freely respond to the various needs in their classrooms. )

• Self-Paced (In a Modern Classroom, students go at their own pace. They don’t move onto the next lesson simply because it’s time or because they completed the requisite work. They move on when they have mastered the concept and are ready to build on that skill. )

• Mastery Based (Once the lesson work is complete, students take a Mastery Check (Quick Check).  These are small quizzes out of 5 points.  For students to reach mastery, they must score 4 or higher (80%).  They will then move onto the next lesson.  If students score lower than a 4, they will need to complete "additional practice" and meet with me.  A second quick check is built into the additional practice.  Again, a score of 80% or higher is considered mastery.

• "I could work at my own pace. If I wanted to go fast, I could. I also liked the revision thing as well." 

• "I liked how if you got a bad score on the quick check then you could have done a revision because then if you get a good score on the revision you're probably good with the lesson."
