Hi everyone! I hope you are hanging in there during these trying times. Here are a few tips/reminders about orchestra this year!
1. If you have any issues with your instrument, such as a broken string or bow that won’t make a sound, contact a local music store, such as Rettig Music at 440-808-0900, to get them taken care of as soon as possible.
2. If your instrument doesn’t already have fine tuners for each string on the tailpiece (close to the bridge), consider getting them put on by a music store repair person. Having them will make tuning much simpler, regardless of whether we are having class in person or remotely.
3. Get a tuner if you don’t already have one. There are many tuning apps you can download to your phone, or you can buy a clip on tuner (such as Snark brand) online or from Rettig. I would also strongly suggest buying your own rosin.
4. Please do NOT use hand sanitizer, alcohol or solvent based cleaning products on your instrument. These products can damage the varnish on your instrument. The best thing you can do is wash your hands before & after practicing, and do not let anyone else touch or play your instrument, including friends and siblings.
5. Check your email, Google Classroom, and our social media pages for updates. I will keep you updated as best I can during this time! - Mrs. Kulikowski
