Artist's Statement

Welcome to my Homepage!

I have always been creative.  At an early age I began sewing under the exacting eye of my Mother. Weekends were spent in the workshop with my Dad.  In later years, my creative journey took me through silk painting, stained glass, wood and stone carving. Unfortunately, these crafts are not very portable, nor do they give instant gratification. But I persevered, even though some of my carving projects (totem poles, bed) took years to complete.

After I retired from my professional life, you can imagine my delight when I learned (later in life) that I could actually paint!  I had a great teacher, and a supportive family and friends to fuel my new passion.  I joined the Waterside Art Group 12 years ago; a great group of talented women who paint every Thursday at a studio in Oakville.  To paint with these ladies is exhilarating!  My preferred genre is the portrait – people or animals.
