Overview of Strategic Support
All graduates of Alabama’s Early Childhood, Elementary, and Collaborative Teacher (K-6) educator preparation programs demonstrate the knowledge and instructional expertise necessary to teach reading effectively, using evidence-based practices aligned to the sciences of literacy, learning, and instruction.
To collaborate with EPP faculty, instructors, and leaders to strengthen coursework, instructional systems, and clinical and field experiences that prepare highly effective literacy educators.
Strategic Framework for Support
From relationship building, to knowledge expansion, to alignment across the sciences of literacy, instruction, and learning, essential priorities need focused, ongoing attention to bring about the collective efficacy that causes literacy professors and instructors to feel as if they can positively influence student outcomes.
ARI’s support strategy focuses on six priorities:
Foster relationships with and among faculty, instructors, and leaders
Build knowledge of the sciences of literacy, learning, and instruction
Align curriculum to the science of reading
Support effective instructional design and delivery
Support design of science of reading-aligned clinical and field experiences
