Medicine Wheel
Native American inspired project of telling a visual story in a new way.
Project Steps:
- Choose your animal "totem" (animals native to north america only)
- Write an brief auto-biography (a paragraph for each of the 4 "ages" in the medicine wheel) to be translated into visual symbols or a pictograph boarder.
- Infancy/early childhood
- Youth/teenager
- Adulthood
- Old Age
- Use the template to draw your border outline on your brown paper bag after you've prepared it. Divide the border in half for your story border and design border.
- Divide the medicine wheel into 4 sections with a cool divider design (has to be an object, like branches for example) dividing the circle into 4 spaces.
- Depict your personal story using your totem animal in each of the 4 sections. This will be 4 different images of your animal totem in the 4 "ages". These drawings need to look as realistic as possible.
- Create an outside border design to enhance your medicine wheel.
- Color the Medicine Wheel with colored pencils. If you color thickly, it will look like you painted it.
