The water cycle describes the process where water moves from one reservoir of the Earth to another. During this process the water undergoes different kinds of phase changes when it changes between solid, liquid, and gas. Water is continuously moving through this cycle but despite this the total amount of water on the Earth has remained constant.
An aquifer is a huge storehouse of groundwater. The top of that aquifer is called the water table. Everything below the water table is saturated with groundwater. When people dig wells they have to dig them deep enough to get down below the water table and into the aquifer.
